The skyway, named for that place above it all...
The perennial tableau of preoccupation passes on the skyway above, while hardy street souls breast the wind. A solitary patrol car wends down the sinuous mall, a lump of vigilant coal foregrounded against the riot of winter sun burning between the far curbs.
There are 8 miles of skyway used by tens of thousands of people a day. There is a horizontal grandeur here, and a lesson in self-organization for those who wonder what the public/private partnerships of the future look and work like. If you see me wandering around, say Hi. I might take your picture.
